Those that say LeBron James can’t close out a game got some more ammunition Sunday night after he failed to take two critical shots that could have put his team ahead. Instead, they lost 148-143. James commented on the night’s events saying, “I can’t turn the ball over like that…”Definitely wish I could have that one back.”
James did score 36 points, and buried six three-point shots. But it was the shots he didn’t take that raised questions.
The East squad had a chance to take the lead with under 20 seconds left, but rather than shoot or drive to the basket James threw an errant cross-court pass that Blake Griffin intercepted. Kobe Bryant appears to have been talking trash to James, and James admitted afterward Kobe was telling him to shoot.
Then, to make it worse, instead of being on the court to try a game-winner James was the inbounds man on the final play. And Kobe seems to really be laying into him.
