The offices of three black Democratic members of the House, Corrine Brown (Fl.), Shelia Jackson-Lee (Tex.) and John Conyers (Mich.), announced Friday they will host an informal hearing next week on the “role of the federal government and hate crimes” in the wake of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Witnesses at the Tuesday event will include representatives from the NAACP, Human Rights Watch, the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups, as well as Benjamin Crump, the attorney representing Martin’s family.
