NY black state senators to wear hoodies for Trayvon Martin

African-American legislators Eric Adams, Kevin Parker, and Bill Perkins plan to wear hoodies to the N.Y. state chamber this afternoon. The NY Daily News reports that they are protesting in honor of the Trayvon Martin tragedy, and plan to lead other black lawmakers to do the same. Martin was wearing a hoodie as he walked home, when a neighborhood watch volunteer shot and killed him in Sanford, Florida.

The black legislators plan to wear hoodies to the Senate chamber in honor of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager shot and killed by a member of a neighborhood patrol.

Pastors and their congregants across the country wore hoodies to church Sunday in memory of Martin, 17 (pictured), who was killed by civilian patrolman George Zimmerman in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., near Orlando.

Sen. Chuck Schumer says the shooting shows the need to review the “Stand Your Ground” laws in Florida and other states, which prevent the arrest of non-law-enforcement shooters like Zimmerman.
