Bobbi Kristina is proving that she is a big girl now, and ready to make it on her own. The 19-year-old daughter of the late R&B icon, Whitney Houston, has reportedly landed a role on Tyler Perry’s TBS sitcom, For Better or Worse.
According to the blog Straight from the A, the Madea director has cast Bobbi Kristina in a recurring role on the series, which has been picked up for a second season by TBS.
The show is based on Perry’s films Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too? and follows a married couple, played by Tasha Smith and Michael Jai White, trying to weather the ups and downs of marriage. Smith’s character owns a beauty shop on the series and Bobbi Kristina will star as the daughter of one of the stylists in the salon.
Last month, TBS announced that they were ordering 35 new episodes of For Better or Worse, which will begin airing in July 2012.
Bobbi Kristina has reportedly been spotted frequently coming and going from Perry’s Atlanta studios over the past few weeks, along with her ‘brother’ Nick Gordon and Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston.
Tyler Perry has made it no secret that he is a close friend of the Houston Family. Days after Whitney’s death Perry reportedly offered up his private jet to fly her body from Los Angeles to Newark, New Jersey. He also delivered an emotional personal statement at the star’s funeral on February 18.
Earlier this month Bobbi Kristina told Oprah Winfrey during her interview on Oprah’s Next Chapter that she has every intention of following through with an acting and music career like her mother did.
“I’m her daughter, I gotta keep movin’, I gotta carry on her legacy,” Bobbi Kristina said, “We’re gonna do the singing thing, we’re gonna do some acting, some dancing, you know. It’s a lot of pressure, but she prepared me for it.”
