Jim Treacher, a conservative writer for The Daily Caller, is defending Mitt Romney against online attacks after news leaked of him strapping his family dog to the roof of their car for a drive from Massachusetts to Canada back in 1983. Treacher posted an excerpt from President Obama’s Dreams From My Father, in which he describes having eaten dog meat as a child in Indonesia, and implied that was far worse than what the GOP candidate had done. The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher posted a blog item Tuesday with an excerpt from President Barack Obama’s bestselling memoir “Dreams From My Father,” in which Obama writes of eating dog meat when he was a little boy in Indonesia.
With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.
