Nas reflects on ending his beef with Jay-Z (VIDEO)

Nas’ beef with rival Jay-Z was of the most well-known feuds in the history of hip hop. It has often been speculated that they didn’t even have bad blood the mid 90’s, but their ill will became official in 2001 when Jay-Z dropped the diss track “Takeover” and Nas’ responded with “Ether.” No matter whom you thought had the better record, rap fans witnessed two of the greatest emcees ever battle on wax — and do it without any violence.

In a trailer from Nas’ upcoming VH1 Behind The Music special, Nas recalls when he buried the hatchet with Jay-Z in 2005 and solidified their partnership by signing to Def Jam Records when Jay-Z was president. Through mutual friend and record executive L.A. Reid, the two legends met face to face and, after greeting Nas with a hug, Jay-Z asked about his mother who passed away in 2002.
