A Streetcar Named Desire opened at The Broadhurst Theater this past weekend, revived with a diverse cast, including two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Blair Underwood, and Nicole Ari Parker
Tennessee Williams’ Broadway hit, which first premiered at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in December 1947, played 855 performances before closing its curtain indefinitely in December 1949.
Emily Mann (Anna in the Tropics, Miss Witherspoon) directs the New Orleans-based drama, which underscores the culture clash of the urban working class represented by Stanley (Underwood), with the old Southern ideals of his sister-in-law, Blanche DuBois (Parker).
To celebrate the revamping of this critically acclaimed play, theGrio would like to share images of the new, star-studded cast.
