Boxer Timothy Bradley in wheelchair at post-fight press conference

Boxer Timothy Bradley defeated Manny Pacquiao in a controversial fight over the weekend at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas for the World Boxing Organization welterweight title. The match was a scrappy affair between two quality boxers. When the scores were tabulated, the judges awarded Bradley with the win in a split decision, much to the dismay and chagrin to many in the crowd and around the world who thought Pacquiao clearly won the bout.

Most recently, it has been revealed that Bradley suffered a fractured left foot in Saturday night’s fight. His manager Can Dunkin said Sunday that Bradey’s right ankle was twisted and swollen. In the post-fight press conference Bradley said he heard his left foot snap in the second round and in the fifth he injured his right foot.

Even so, the fight continued and Bradley came out the victor amid considerable scrutiny.

“I’ve never been as ashamed of the sport of boxing as I am tonight,” said promoter Bob Arum, who handles both fighters.

A rematch for the two is scheduled for November 10th.
