David Bronner, CEO of Dr Bronner’s Magic Soaps boycotted the nation’s long standing policy to ban the growth of hemp within the US since the 1950’s. NBC Washington reported that the California resident set up at 8:30am at the north end of the White house. He locked himself into a cage with hemp plants and a giant sign above his cage with a photo of Barack Obama that read “Dear Mr President let us farmers grow hemp.” Hemp is used in many beauty supply products, fabrics and oils and is considered to be a renewable product.
Bronner was eventually arrested but D.C. firefighters had to use a chainsaw to get him out of the cage.
