Three children were found in a filthy home in Northwest Indiana this week. All of the windows were closed and the air conditioner off, leaving the home at a temperature of 90 degrees. NBC Chicago reports that police said there was a strong odor of mold, dirty dishes, insects crawling and alcohol containers everywhere. Child welfare authorities say the rescued children have health problems, so they were removed from the home.

A woman called Portage police after seeing one of the children walking alone in the street Monday morning, according to The Times of Northwest Indiana. Police told the publication the house was in disarray, with insects crawling and dirty dishes and alcohol containers everywhere. The temperature inside was nearly 90 degrees, they said.
