Frenchie Davis comes out: 'I'm in love with a woman'

Frenchie Davis, a former American Idol and The Voice contestant, has revealed to the Saint Louis Post Dispatch that she has been dating a woman for the past year. “I wasn’t out before the relationship, but I wasn’t in,” she told the publication. “I dated men and women, though lesbians weren’t feeling the bisexual thing. Now I’m in love with a woman I think I can be with forever.”

Davis was a popular contestant on the second season of American Idol but was disqualified when topless photos taken of her earlier in her career were leaked to the public. A favorite on NBC’s The Voice, Davis career is not just in TV but also on stage, in Rent and Dreamgirls.

With a huge fan base in gay community, Davis has performed a number of gay pride events around the country since 2009. This weekend, Davis is set to preform at the Chicago Pride Fest. “I love the gays,” she says. “I love the gay boys. They have that awesome, masculine energy.”

Davis did not go into detail about her partner or why she took so long to make the announcement.
