LL Cool J launches 'My Connect Studio' software for artists

LL Cool J has transitioned smoothly from music to movies and the now the rap legend is embracing the tech sector. The hip-hop veteran recently launched a virtual studio recording software called My Connect Studio.

The software allows artists and producers to  have a real-time  studio session over the internet no matter where they are in the world. The rapper came up with the idea because the digital age has meant less real time  interaction between artists, and he wanted to change that.

“They’ll [producers] e-mail me the track,” he shares. “I’m e-mailing vocals. They don’t like something, I’m sending it back. We’re going back and forth and doing this dance. A lot of music is being created that way right now. What I wanted to do is be able to create music in real-time,” he told  Boombox.com.

LL Cool J formed a partnership with Sony and  his own social networking site, Bombdizzle, to launch the software. He debuted the software at the Sony Store in New York City and demonstrated how the software works.

A friend played a track from across town and LL recorded lyrics over the beat.  The My Connect Studio software allowed the recording to be played immediately for everyone to hear.

LL Cool J  is currently working on his13th studio album, “Authentic Hip-Hop,” and told the audience at the launch that he will be using the software to record part of it.

My  Connect Studio is currently available on PC’s, but will soon be  available on Mac’s and mobile devices.
