Is Keke Palmer too young for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’?

Keke Palmer shot to fame as a child star appearing in the 2006 film Akeelah and the Bee, as well as the title character in the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson, VP. But the 18-year-old actress is proving she is no longer a kid.

Days ago, the Joyful Noise star tweeted that she just finished reading the controversial erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey. “I cried last night finishing ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ that ending tugged at my heart. I’m on the second book of the serious now!” Palmer tweeted.

Although Fifty Shades has been topping the bestsellers list, it’s been banned in a growing number of public libraries, due to its strong sexual content.

Palmer has more than 700,000 Twitter followers, many of whom are adolescent teen girls, so her tweeting her support of such a mature novel, might ignite outrage from parents.

During an interview with theGrio in January, Palmer talked about transitioning from being a child star to taking on more mature roles. “I’m not going to be popping out in films doing overt sexual things, but I don’t want to be the same character all of the time,” she said.

Do you think Keke Palmer is too young to endorse Fifty Shades of Grey?
