Nancy Pelosi says it would be 'sweet' to see Allen West defeated

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi D (CA) is ready to say goodbye to Congressman Allen West (R-FL) this November. Pelosi told reporters not only would it be good for Democrats and Floridians, it would great for everyone if West were defeated.

When a reporter asked the Minority Leader how “sweet” would it be for Democrats to see West defeated this Fall the former Speaker of the House responded with a question of her own: “How sweet it would be for this country?”

West has been an irritant for Democrats in Congress since his election in the 2010 midterms, when Tea Party candidates and the GOP carried 42 seats. West’s outrageous comments throughout his first term have heightened tensions between the two parties, making it even more difficult for the two major parties to work together in an already contentious political climate.

Earlier this year West accused dozens of Democratic members of Congress of being members of the Communist Party and advised that anyone who questioned his support for the Republican budget would be “on a suicide mission.”

The Florida Congressman has also compared Social Security to slavery and likened being gay to picking an ice cream flavor.
