Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

During an interview with The Daily yesterday, Stevie Nicks, the lead singer for the classic rock band Fleetwood Mac said that she would have “strangled” Nicki Minaj if she was in Mariah Carey’s shoes during their argument last week, which took place in the midst of American Idol auditions.

Tensions between Carey and Minaj exploded during Idol auditions that were being held in Charlotte, North Carolina last week. Leaked behind-the-scenes footage showed Minaj and Carey in a profanity-laced argument that lasted for nearly 60 seconds.

“How dare this little girl [Minaj],” Nicks said. ““If I had been Mariah, I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there. I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it.”

Moments ago Nick’s released a statement of apology to Minaj:

“I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj’s behavior toward Mariah Carey which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews. It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey who has gone through many difficulties in her life and I spoke without thinking. I think all artists should be respectful toward one another and that includes me. I am truly sorry.”

Minaj has yet to comment on Nick’s harsh words and her subsequent apology.
