Last night part 2 of the three-part reality series, Nicki Minaj: My Truth, premiered on E!
The show gives viewers an intimate look what at rapper’s life is like right now, as she records her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, and prepares to make her debut as a judge on American Idol.
For the second of installment of My Truth, Minaj addressed her highly publicized feud with fellow Idol judge Mariah Carey, which took place during an audition in early October. My Truth cameras were rolling when the “Pound The Alarm” rapper heard that Barbara Walters read a statement from Carey, detailing her side of what happened during her argument with Minaj.
“Am I not good enough for you to get my side?” Minaj said referring to Carey’s statement being read on The View. “If I was J. Lo, you woulda called J. Lo’s camp.”
During a recent interview with theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon, Minaj declined to comment on her alleged feud with Carey, but revealed that she does feel like a “fish out of water” as a judge on American Idol.
“I absolutely do feel like a fish out of water sometimes , and that’s only natural, I’m human.” Minaj replied when asked whether or not she’s comfortable behind the judges’ panel.
She also revealed that she was nervous when first approached about the gig.
“I was extremely nervous, and if I say I’m not nervous I’d be a God d**n lie. But I’ve always been the type of person willing to embark on journey after journey to prove to myself I can do whatever the hell I want to do.” Minaj said “You know, as long as I keep my faith in God that he’s gonna carry me through I really believe that there isn’t a task out there that I can’t compete.
The media has dubbed Nicki Minaj as “unpredictable,” which ironically is a quality that many of her longtime fans love the most about her. The youngest Idol judge says that her fans are in for a treat, because she has no plans to tone down her personality for the show.
“ I bring a lot of my personality to Idol, which has never been seen before on Idol like that. I have fun with it, I have fun with the contestants. I’m still myself on Idol, and that’s how we’re gonna keep it.
