15-year-old girl fatally shot in back on southwest side of Chicago

NBC Chicago – Investigators in Chicago are trying to find the gunman who opened fire on a group of people on the city’s southwest side and killed a 15-year-old girl.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said the shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. Monday in the backyard of a home on the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue

Authorities said Porshe Foster was shot in the back and died about an hour later at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Police said the shooting appears to be gang-related but that Foster wasn’t the intended target.

In a separate incident earlier in the day, a man was killed and another was in critical condition in a shooting at the funeral of a known gang member.

Mary Sistrunk said her son, 21-year-old Sherman Miller, was killed in the shooting that occurred at about 12:25 p.m. inside St. Columbanus Church.

Another man, 26-year-old, Deonte Ousley, was in surgery and in critical condition as of 4 p.m.

Police said both Miller and Ousley are “convicted felons and had a gang affiliation.”
