(WTLV) – Family and friends of 17-year-old Jordan Davis said goodbye at his memorial service in Mandarin on Wednesday night.
The teen was killed Friday night during a shooting that police say stemmed from an altercation over loud music at a gas station.
“Everybody was still talking about it like how they can’t believe it, and all you hear is ‘Jordan, you know, why’d you have to go,’ you know,” said Desiree Santos, one of Jordan’s friends from school.
It was a heartbreaking experience for so many who love Jordan Davis. Friends, family members, classmates and teachers gathered at the Hardage-Garden Funeral Home to say goodbye to a young man gone too soon.
“He was always smiling. You know, he had a big million-dollar smile, always smiling and you know, just seeing him with his mouth closed, it’s sad,” says Maurice Ivory, who has been friends with Jordan for three years.
A 17-year-old senior at Wolfson High School, Jordan Davis was looking forward to graduation and to joining the Marine Corps, but his dreams were shattered in a moment of violence.
“It’s hard to see somebody else’s child, anybody’s child in a casket you know over loud music. It’s senseless. And then they toting guns? Them boys don’t tote guns, everybody, all of them, you know they have a future ahead of them. He had a future, it was taken from him,” says Yvonne Williams, the parent of two of Jordan’s friends.
