Dennis Haysbert to replace the late Michael Clarke Duncan in ‘Sin City 2’

Before his tragic death earlier this year, Academy Award nominee Michael Clarke Duncan was prepared to reprise his role as Manute in the highly anticipated sequel to 2005’s Sin City.

The late 54-year-old actor will now be replaced by veteran character actor Dennis Haysbert, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales, and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role onscreen,” said the film’s directors, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, in a statement to Heat Vision. “We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast.”

The sequel will bring back other stars from the original film’s cast, including Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson.

Haysbert is best known for his roles on the hit TV series 24 and The Unit. He most recently supplied the voice of General Hologram in the hit children’s movie Wreck-It Ralph.
