‘Politics Nation’: Sharpton talks to wrongly convicted ‘Central Park Five’

On Thursday’s Politics Nation, Rev. Al Sharpton spoke with the four of the five men who as teenagers in the early 1990s were wrongly convicted of gang raping a white jogger in Central Park.

The men spent between 7 and 13 years in prison for the crime, before an imprisoned man came forward and confessed to the crime — a confession backed by DNA evidence.

The case, and Sharpton’s role in it, are recalled in a new documentary on the case.

The MSNBC interview also included Sarah Burns, who co-produced the documentary.
