Forbes has released their annual “30 Under 30” list, highlighting the top young stars in fifteen categories, including Art & Style, Music, and Sports. Several young African-Americans were among those chosen for this year’s list.
At age 25, rapper Wiz Khalifa was chosen as Forbes featured music artist. He has earned $20 million over the past two years, and is now preparing to release a new album and marry his fiancee Amber Rose.
A few names accompanying Khalifa’s in the music category are: Frank Ocean, 25, Kendrick Lamar, 25, and Rihanna, 24.
Topping the “30 Under 30” sports list is Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams. Before the 2012-2013 NBA season began, Williams decided to say with the Nets instead of signing with the Dallas Mavericks.
Choosing to stay with the Nets paid off for Williams, who signed a 5-year, $100 million contract. Olympic gold-medalists Usain Bolt, 26, and Gabrielle Douglas, 17, are also on the Sports list, along with LeBron James, 28, and Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, 22.
London-born fashion designer, Carly Cushnie was chosen as the featured artist for the Art & Style list.
At the age of 28, Cushnie’s designs have been seen on Rihanna, Jessica Alba, and even First Lady Michelle Obama.
Cushnie and partner Michelle Ochs teamed up to form their label, Cushnie et Ochs, which grossed about $2 million dollars last year.
