Compiling a list of the year’s most positive and uplifting stories isn’t as easy as it should be.
But this year, there were inspirational moments that made us glad we took the time to search.
Gabby Douglas captured the world’s heart when she made history at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Douglas became the first African-American gymnast to win a gold medal in the individual all-around competition. She also became the first gymnast to win both the individual all-around and team gold in the same Olympics.
Bravo, Gabby.
This year, Ole Miss crowned its first black homecoming queen and a postal worker reminded us all how little it takes to save someone’s life – even if you don’t know who they are.
Other uplifting moments of the year include a young chess wizard leading his middle school team to a national title and a New York-based squash program helping students achieve in athletics and academics.
Make sure you take time to reflect on all of the ‘Good News’ that happened in 2012.
Trust us, it’s worth it.
