9th Wonder, a founding member of the hip-hop collective Little Brother, former college professor and a music producer, has worked with a who’s in who hip-hop.
His work with Jay-Z and Beyonce is among his most recognizable collaborations and he recently dropped a passion project that would make any Hova fan proud.
Jay-Z’s American Gangster is one of the strongest albums in his discography. Inspired by the Denzel Washington movie of the same name, the 2007 album did its best to capture the essence of the Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas rise in the criminal underworld.
Titled Black American Gangster, 9th Wonder combines Hov’s lyrics over the melodies from R&B legends like The Stylistics and Kool & The Gang for a smooth listen.
It’s the type of mixtape that can be played with your parents in the same room.
