Meagan Good: ‘NBC’s ‘Deception’ is scandalous but it’s not like ‘Scandal’

Tonight Meagan Good makes her debut on NBC’s midseason drama Deception.

The show centers on Good’s character, Joanna Locasto, a San Francisco narcotics detective who returns to the wealthy family she grew up with in order to solve the murder of an heiress who was once her closest friend.

Good stars alongside her Jumping the Broom co-star, Laz Alonso, who plays federal agent Will Moreno.

Deception is currently one of the only two prime-time network dramas featuring an African American actress in a lead role.

During an interview with theGrio, Good talked about the differences between her role on Deception and Kerry Washington’s role on ABC’s hit drama Scandal.

Deception gets more scandalous, but it’s not like Scandal. I don’t think they’re similar,” Good said.

Deception premieres tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

TheGrio is a part of NBC News, which is owned by NBCUniversal.
