A Brooklyn Nets player is involved in an ongoing investigation of an alleged sexual assault, according to the team and multiple reports. The incident occurred before 4 a.m. early Tuesday morning, according to Philadelphia’s WCAU-TV.
Philadelphia police tell the station a 21-year-old woman informed them she was sexually assaulted by someone inside the Four Seasons Hotel.
The Nets are in Philadelphia to play the 76ers Tuesday night.
Nets backup center Andray Blatche made reference to the incident on Twitter: (via Full Court Pumps)
Blatche has since deleted the tweet.
Blatche’s tweet came shortly after a Philadelphia sports blog reported he was the “unnamed” player involved. Officials told New York Times reporter Wendy Ruderman Andray Blatche was questioned by Philadelphia police but not accused of any wrongdoing.
His tweet also coincides with what police told WCAU:
“Police say a Brooklyn Nets palyer was in the hotel suite at the time of the alleged incident but was not in the bedroom where it may have occurred.”
Nets general manager Billy King issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“We are aware of the ongoing police investigation regarding a member of the Brooklyn Nets. We will have no further comment until the investigation has concluded. All of our players are available for tonight’s game.”
Later Tuesday, Blatche confirmed to his Twitter followers he would be ready to play against the Sixers:
Gettin ready for the game
