On the morning of his 37th birthday, rapper Rick Ross was involved in a car crash that stemmed from a possible drive-by shooting, according to the Associated Press.
NBC Miami is reporting that Ft. Lauderdale police are investigating a shooting that led to a Rolls Royce crashing into a building.
The police on the scene say shots were fired around 5am in the Southeast 15th Avenue and East Las Olas Boulevard. Police officials confirmed that a Roll Royce was heading eastbound on Las Olas when another car began to shoot at it.
As the Royce attempted to evade the gun fire, it crashed into a building. While police are still looking for the shooters, witness made statements saying that Rick Ross was occupying the Rolls Royce.
In an off-camera interview, a witness who was present at the scene stated that Rick Ross was in the Roll Royce, along with a female companion.
Ross, who was accompanied by fashion designer Shateria L. Moragne-el, told police they heard guns fired in their direction early Monday morning.
Ross then lost control of the Royce to elude the bullets as he and his lady left the scene with no injuries.
No bullets appear to have struck the Rolls Royce, police said.
