Courtney Love covers '99 Problems,' n-word included, at Sundance Film Festival

Courtney Love, of the rock band Hole and the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is no stranger to controversy.

With a history of drug problems and public spats with her former band members, she has had no shortage of drama in her career.

Love decided to cover Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend on her acoustic guitar. Footage of her appearance has made its way to the Internet and you can clearly hear Love not shying away from using the n-word that’s littered throughout her cover of the Black Album classic.

Judging by her voice, her usage of the slur doesn’t appear to be malicious, just an attempt to keep up with artistic integrity of the hit.

White people have covered or made their own rendition rap songs over the years and the recent success of YouTube sensation Niykee Heaton covering street hits like Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” proves that this trend isn’t going anywhere soon.

However, most white artists show a little restraint when dealing with the n-word.
