Following a New Orleans audition for singing competition show The X–Factor, Orrion Wilson was arrested for allegedly stealing a car in the nearby city of Slidell.
The 20-year-old flew to New Orleans from his native Florida in order to try out for the hit Fox Network TV show.
Following his audition, Wilson allegedly jumped into a car that was left running at a gas station while the owner was inside, and drove away, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
The vehicle was spotted by local police, but when they attempted to pull Wilson over, he led them on a high speed chase.
The car Wilson was driving was eventually guided off the road, and Wilson was arrested following an attempt to escape on foot.
The aspiring singer told police that he took a plane to New Orleans to audition, but did not have enough money to get back to Florida.
According to Wilson the audition went well, and he was invited to the second round of auditions in New York City next week.
Wilson faces several charges, including theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault on a police officer.
