PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia jury has deliberated for its first full day without reaching a verdict in the murder trial of a Philadelphia abortion provider.
The jury is set to return Thursday to keep weighing murder charges against Dr. Kermit Gosnell.
The 72-year-old Gosnell is charged with killing five people — a patient and four viable babies allegedly born alive.
He also is accused of performing abortions after Pennsylvania’s 24-week limit and running a corrupt organization.
The jury began deliberating Tuesday afternoon, after hearing six weeks of evidence, and spent all day Wednesday in deliberations.
The jury so far has only asked questions about theft charges related to Gosnell’s co-defendant.
