NRA president calls Civil War the 'war of Northern aggression'

The National Rifle Association’s new president Jim Porter believes all Americans should have military weapons training.

“That was the very reason that they started the National Rifle Association,” Porter said at the 2012 annual NRA dinner. “It was to teach and train the civilian in the use of the standard military firearm.”

“At this stage of the NRA’s history, Jim Porter will be the perfect match for president,” said David Keene, the NRA’s former president.

During last year’s annual dinner at the New York Rifle and Pistol Association, Porter called Obama a “fake president,” reports Seattlepi.com.

At the same dinner, Porter referred to the Civil War as the “war of Northern aggression.”

“Now y’all call it the Civil War, but we call it the War of Northern Aggression down South,” he said.

The new president will be joining NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre as the association’s spokesmen.

Porter is the son of former NRA president Irvine Porter.
