Funeral program for Malcolm Shabazz released

Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X, was buried in New York on Tuesday, and now, theGrio has obtained the funeral program.

Spokesmen for the family said Shabazz, 28, was buried near the graves of his grandparents, Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.

According to the statement released on the family’s behalf on Tuesday, “he was surrounded by his mother Qubilah; his aunts–Attallah, Gamilah, Ilyasah, Malaak, Malikah, other family & very close friends. Surprise guest and friend, R&B recording artist, Jaheim, offered his condolences and sang acapella ‘I Miss You (For Moms)’ from his 1st album entitled ‘Ghetto Love’. [sic]”

Malcolm Shabazz: unbearable expectations

According to the statement, Shabazz and Jaheim met at a youth rally hosted by the Terrie Williams Agency at a Queens Public Library “many years ago.”

Authorities say Shabazz was beaten to death this month following a fight in a Mexico City bar. Shabazz reportedly argued with two waiters over a $1,200 bar bill in Mexico City. The waiters have been arrested.
