SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Quarterback Everett Golson says he was suspended from Notre Dame for the fall semester because of poor academic judgment and says he is thankful for the chance to “regain my eligibility in the winter of 2014.”
Golson says in a letter to the Notre Dame community provided to the AP that he understands that his integrity could be in question, but says he will return as a better student and individual.
A university spokesman said Saturday night that as of Friday Golson was no longer enrolled at Notre Dame. Golson had helped the Irish go 12-0 during the regular season and get to the national title game in January.
