Rachel Jeantel, friend of the late Trayvon Martin and witness in the George Zimmerman trial, responded to Rush Limbaugh’s assertion that he can now use the n-word because of her remarks on the subject.
Yesterday, Limbaugh responded to Jeantel’s interview on Piers Morgan where she said there was a different meaning to the n-word when it ends in ‘a’ as opposed to ‘er.’
Limbaugh said that because of Jeantel’s statements, he should be able to use the word now too.
“So, ‘ni**a,’ with an ‘a’ on the end, well I think I can now. Isn’t that the point? ‘Cause it’s not racist. That’s the point. I could be talking about a male, a Chinese male, a guy at the laundromat. I could be talking about a man. That’s what she said it means,” he claimed.
When asked for her reaction during an interview on Huffington Post Live Jeantel said, “It is racist for an adult [to say the n-word], why teenagers use it I don’t know.”
She said it matters if the adult is black or white, and she believes that it sounded “racist” when Limbaugh used the language on air.
“When you say it out loud in person in front of people, that’s disrespectful… But I can’t judge him,” Jeantel said.
