Denzel Washington is so entrenched on Hollywood’s A-list that he arguably can have any role he wants. And he has proven notoriously picky.

For instance, according to Deadline.com, Washington passed on a chance to star in the seventh installment of the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise.

The specific role that the Academy Award winner was being considered for has not been revealed but according to producers someone “important” will ultimately take the part.

The 2 Guns star has infamously walked away from great leading roles in films that became critical and commercial successes.

Washington himself admitted regretting  his decisions not to star in Seven (1995) and Michael Clayton (2007), parts that went to Brad Pitt and George Clooney respectively.

“With Clayton, it was the best material I had read in a long time, but I was nervous about a first-time director, and I was wrong. It happens,” he told GQ.

Denzel was also allegedly in the running for Blade, Dreamgirls and Amistad.

“I just didn’t see myself in Amistad. I ain’t putting no chains around my neck. I’m not in the mood right now, too edgy. It just wasn’t for me,” he said of the 1997 film. “I’m not having it. I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s what happened then, but how about me cutting everybody’s head off and end the movie there?'”
