‘Rent is Too Damn High’ candidate Jimmy McMillan officially endorses Anthony Weiner for NYC mayor

Despite the controversy surrounding Anthony Weiner’s race for New York City mayor, he has received the support of one well-known New Yorker. Jimmy McMillan, who is responsible for the popular slogan: “The rent is too damn high.”

McMillan, who made the rant about rent prices popular during New York’s 2010 gubernatorial race, tweeted a picture of himself with the candidate to announce his official endorsement of the embattled former Congressman.

According to a Politico report, McMillan told Anthony Weiner to continue to seek the mayor’s position, despite all of the backlash that he has received since it was revealed that he was sexting multiple women other than his wife for an extended period of time.

“I told him don’t quit,” McMillan said. “We didn’t talk about politics, I just told him clearly, ‘You do not quit. You can’t stand the heat in the kitchen, you shouldn’t have got in this race.’”

In an interview with the New York Observer’s Politicker, McMillan said the candidate should not to be afraid to seek help.

“We all are freaky. He just exposed his freaky-ism in the wrong way,” McMillan said. “I think Anthony needs someone like me to tell him, ‘Don’t be afraid to go get help if you need it.'”

McMillan’s endorsement of Weiner is ironic because three months ago, he told theGrio that he thought Weiner was “a freak.”

The Democratic primary for the mayor’s race is set for September 10th.
