Lee Thompson Young from Disney’s ‘The Famous Jett Jackson’ dead at 29 of apparent suicide

Lee Thompson Young, the actor who starred in Disney’s The Famous Jett Jackson, has died, TMZ reports. He was 29.

The young star was found dead Monday morning in an apparent suicide, his reps have confirmed.

TMZ reports that Young’s body was discovered by his landlord who was asked to visit the star’s home after Young did not arrive on set today for his latest project, TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles.

Young’s landlord visited the L.A. home after coworkers inquired about Young’s whereabouts. Upon entering the home, Young’s landlord found his body along with a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted, according to TMZ.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning,” said longtime manager Jonathan Baruch.

The actor is also known for roles in various other TV series, including Smallville, Scrubs and The Guardian. He played Chris Comer in 2004 film Friday Night Lights.

“Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed,” Baruch says. “We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.”

No further details on Young’s death have been provided at this time.
