Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network has ordered 26 more episodes of Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor — doubling the number of episodes commissioned from 26 to a total of 52 for the season.
The network released a statement on Wednesday, which also marked the two-hour finale for the current cycle of the sitcom.
Love Thy Neighbor is set at a family-owned restaurant, where the matriarch (Patrice Lovely) juggles the requests from her clan and customers who attend the diner for good food and some laughs.
All the while, the cast continues to learn and grow from the daily lessons they encounter.
Oprah describes the show as “not just funny…Tyler Perry funny” and it has averaged more than 1 million total viewers since its premiere in May, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Perry’s other show on the network, The Haves and the Have Nots has also been renewed for four more episodes.
The drama, which stars Tika Sumpter, chronicles a rich family and the daily dynamics they encounter with the help they have hired to upkeep their mansion.
The show premiered on the network as the highest-rated series debut in May, reports the Chicago Tribune.
New episodes of Love Thy Neighbor will begin premiering in January 2014, while The Haves and the Have Nots airs Tuesday at 9/8C on OWN.
