Fallen firefighter’s family burglarized during funeral

The family of a fallen D.C. firefighter came home from his funeral to find something that deepened their pain: Their home had been broken into, and nearly all of their valuables stolen.

Terrence Boston was riding his motorcycle along Old Branch Avenue in Temple Hills, Md. last week when he was struck by a car heading in the opposite direction that turned without yielding. The 10-year veteran of the D.C. Fire Department was killed in the accident.

Boston left behind a wife, a Fairfax County firefighter, and three young children. While they attended his funeral Wednesday, their home in Prince George’s County was burglarized.

“It’s as low as you can get. The family’s already suffering. To have someone prey on them while they’re attending a funeral to grieve and celebrate the life of firefighter Boston is just absolutely disgusting,” D.C. firefighter Ed Smith said.
