GEORGIA – Police have launched a frantic search for a 14-year-old girl kidnapped from her Georgia home overnight by two armed men.
The suspects entered the Clayton County house on Brookgate Drive in the early hours through a back door, where they demanded money and jewelry.
Police said the mother was trying to hide along with her two children before being discovered by the intruders.
When she said she didn’t have any cash or valuable items, the men allegedly shot the family’s dog and abducted Ayvani Hope Perez at gunpoint. The dog survived and was taken to a nearby vet for treatment.
Clayton County police officer Phong Nguyen has said that the crime appears to be random and the robbers and victims, who had recently moved into the neighborhood, did not appear to know each other.
Perez is 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 93 pounds. She is Hispanic and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing blue and gray Star Wars pajama bottoms and a blue and gray “Super Hero” shirt.
Police say the suspects, described as black males, were driving a grey Dodge or Chevrolet sedan and the girl is believed to be in extreme danger.
Officials early Tuesday morning were stopping cars and checking them during an all-out search for the girl.
A nationwide Amber Alert was issued at around 3:00 a.m. to help find Ayvani.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released sketches of the suspects. Anyone with information on the girl or the suspects should call 911 or Clayton County police at 678-610-4781.
