Family of Miriam Carey wages custody battle for daughter

NBC Connecticut – A judge has denied an emergency application for child custody filed by the sister of a Connecticut woman fatally shot by police after attempting to ram her car through a White House barrier.

Stamford Superior Court Judge Jane Emons on Friday denied an ex parte application filed by Valarie Carey of Brooklyn, N.Y., seeking temporary custody of 14-month-old Erica Francis, the daughter of Carey’s late sister, Miriam Carey.

The girl is currently in the custody of her father, Eric Francis.
