Josh Marks, ‘MasterChef’ finalist, found dead in apparent suicide

MasterChef finalist Josh Marks was found dead Friday evening after reportedly committing suicide.

After responding to a call, police found the 26-year-old chef’s body in Chicago, lying face up, unresponsive and bleeding from the head, according to the Chicago Tribune.

An autopsy later ruled Marks’ death as a suicide. He suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police told the Tribune one of Marks’ relatives was on the scene and said Marks suffered from “schizophrenia and bipolar disorder,” and was “distraught about something.”

The 7-foot-2 reality star previously admitted he had been struggling with mental illness, saying in a video for the Make a Sound Project, “I have bipolar disorder. I get a little anxious sometimes, and how I cool out is I listen to music.”

News of Marks’ death comes just a few months after he was arrested in July for allegedly attacking a police officer at a University of Chicago apartment complex, according to NBC News.

During the incident, Marks reportedly claimed he had been possessed by MasterChef judge Gordon Ramsay, who turned him into God, according to the Tribune. He then attacked an officer and tried to remove his weapon from his holster.
