Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., who is currently serving his term at a federal correctional facility in North Carolina, received his first set of visitors Friday.
Jackson is serving a two and a half year prison sentence for stealing $750,000 in campaign funds to pay for an opulent lifestyle.
The group of visitors included Senior Pastor Rick Warren and Associate Pastor Anthony Miller.
“We believe in leaders and second chances,” said Rev. Warren. “This is a private moment and we just want to love on him and pray with him.”
CK Hoffler, the attorney facilitating visits, said the group prayed and offered Jackson support and counsel.
Jackson’s wife, Sandi Jackson, was sentenced to a one year term following the same investigation and will begin her term upon her husbands release.
