Georgia sheriff's deputy allegedly wears blackface at Halloween party

A sheriff’s deputy from Camden County Georgia has been accused of wearing blackface at a Halloween party.

A photo, believed to be of Deputy Chad Palmer, shows a man with black paint covering his face and arms, wearing a stereotypical prisoner’s uniform.

People who were at the same party told First Coast News that Palmer said he was dressed as a “Camden County inmate, and he was picking cotton.”

“To me, it was like a slap in the face,” Pastor Mack Knight told FCN. “Outraged. My first reaction was this was totally unethical. Unprofessional and should never have happened.”

The sheriff is expected to host a news conference to discuss the costume today.

TheGrio reached out to the Camden County sheriff’s office for comment, but have not received a response.
