Fifteen years later, The Best Man Holiday, the highly anticipated sequel to The Best Man, is headed to theaters nationwide.
The film, which stars Nia Long, Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall, picks up when the group of friends reunite over the holidays.
“I think this film is gonna break some records,” Howard told theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon during an interview. “It’s better than the first one.”
The Oscar-nominated actor also discussed the idea of open marriages in Hollywood.
“I wish that Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruise would open their marriage,” he said. “Same thing with Michael Douglas and that beautiful thing he got. He should open his marriage. Let some other people get to know [Catherine Zeta-Jones].”
This year alone Howard has already appeared in four theatrical releases, including Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Prisoners, Winnie Mandela, and Dead Man Down.

Howard says he has yet to take on the role of a superhero in an action film, but reveals he wanted the role of “the Joker” in The Dark Knight.
“I actually wanted to go out for “the Joker” and then I saw Heath [Ledger] — what he did, and it was magnificent,” Howard said. “So I would love to play a villain like that… something fun like that.”
