Exclusive: Key and Peele reveal plot details for new movie

Comedy Central’s Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele received high praise this week from writer and director Judd Apatow.

Apatow, known for comedy classics such as Anchorman40-Year-Old Virgin, and Knocked Up, will team with Key and Peele on a new movie deal for Universal Pictures.

Key and Peele will executive produce the project and write the script, along with Apatow who will help produce.

Peele called Apatow a “film voice of the comedy generation.”

“I mean writing with him…we’re just soaking in his whole process, which is really fascinating,” Peele added.

Key then began revealing details of what the movie will center around.

“It looks like the project may have something to do with not only heritage, not only biological heritage, but cultural heritage,” Key said. “Like about…what does it mean when someone says, ‘this person’s my family?'”

Peele is reportedly taking a heavy “crack” at furthering a script for the movie and provided more details on how the pair’s personal journeys relate to the film’s premise.

“We’ve, very recently, been in touch with members of our family that we didn’t necessarily even know existed,” Peele said. “And I think that that journey is actually more common than you think. I think a lot of people can connect with this idea.”

Comedy Central recently renewed Key and Peele for a fourth season.

“It’s essentially going to be a large ensemble of people playing members from our family,” Peele continued. “Some of them being from the black side of our family, some of them being from the white side of our family.”

TheGrio.com couldn’t let the duo go without closing first with one of their famous impressions – President Barack Obama and his colorful anger translator, Luther.

The twist? We tapped Keegan-Michael Key to play Obama and Peele to try his hands at Luther.
