Ten-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, discusses everything from his process for creating music, his very public divorce from Tracey Edmonds, and the current state of the music industry in an upcoming interview of Oprah’s Next Chapter.
Oprah caught up with the R&B powerhouse at his home in Los Angeles to discuss his upcoming album, Love, Marriage & Divorce, a duets album with Toni Braxton (available February 4, 2014 on Motown Records.)
When asked whether or not shows like American Idol help build long-lasting stars? Babyface told Oprah, “everybody’s not strong enough to go through that. American Idol kids… they don’t get the chance to work their craft.”
“Pop culture today is so wishy-washy. ‘I’m into you…now I’m not.’ You get beat up a lot quicker and a lot harder.”
Oprah’s Next Chapter with Babyface airs November 24 at 8/7c on OWN.
