Special needs man killed for Beats by Dre headphones

Christian Massey, 21, was shot and killed in West Philadelphia’s Overbrook neighborhood for his Beats by Dre headphones.

The special needs man recently purchased the headphones for $300 on Black Friday, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The alleged robber demanded the headphones from Massey, but he refused and tried to run away. The gunman fired five shots, one hitting Massey in the chest.

“There’s so much love here you can look out here and see,” said Roshon Massey, Christian’s cousin told NBC. “Somebody had to kill him over nothing. This is crazy.”

Roshon was with Christian following the shooting.  The 21-year-old was conscious when police arrived, but died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania a short time later.

Massey was a recent graduate from Marple Newtown High School, where he played football, basketball and one year of lacrosse.

” To me, he was my child,” Massey’s grandmother Eula Hodge said. “Why did they have to shoot him. They didn’t get what they shot him for so he was shot for nothing.”

No arrests have been made.
