TROY, Ala. (AP) — Troy football player Jadarius Garner was found dead on a Mississippi highway.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Anthony Dunn said that the 20-year-old Garner was found lying on U.S. Highway 61 in Bolivar County early Thursday morning after two cars had run over him.
The highway patrol is investigating the cause of Garner’s death. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State troopers, sheriff’s deputies and rescue officials from Bolivar County arrived at 2:27 a.m. Thursday after responding to what was believed to be a two-vehicle accident about 3 miles south of Oreilly, Miss.
The drivers of the two cars were not injured.
Garner was from Clarksdale, Miss. The defensive end had 21 tackles and three sacks as a sophomore for the Trojans after transferring from Jones County Community College.
