Inspired from the cassette tapes of the 90’s, theGrio’s B-Side section will be giving emerging artists a platform to share some of their more personal songs with their fanbase.
Brooklyn singer Gene Noble breaks down the inspiration behind his new track “Still Here” and trailer exclusively on TheGrio.
Often we call it loyalty. In other moments it looks more like stupidity but it’s most commonly referred to as love. Love can keep you in a place your mind tells you you shouldn’t be. Frustrated, hurt, angry but still here. When I wrote this song, that’s what I was going through. Being really in love when things weren’t going well. I felt it would drive me insane. I knew in my heart the “love” wouldn’t let me leave… but I wanted things to be better. Each word is coming from a place of vulnerability.
