Patti LaBelle praises Fantasia on ‘The Queen Latifah Show’

Queen Latifah has been drawing in a high number of viewers ever since the debut of her daytime talk show in September.

On Thursday’s episode of The Queen Latifah Show, the actress-turned-TV host invited iconic singer Patti LaBelle as a guest.

The two ladies caught up on everything, discussing their long-time friendship and music careers.

At one point, Latifah asked LaBelle which of today’s female performers inspire her. In response, the “If Only You Knew” singer revealed:

“I think Fantasia is awesome. She’s a mini-me. … She is one of the people that you should watch.”

She also mentioned Christina Aguilera as one of her favorite performers but stopped there.

“Of course…there aren’t many. There are a lot of people who call themselves whatever, but we know best,” she said, throwing serious shade to other top female performers.

In a previous interview, the 69-year-old two-time Grammy winner made headlines after she blasted today’s female artists as “little heifers who can’t sing.

She also shared her thoughts on the term “diva”:

“That word is used so loosely that I don’t even consider myself a diva,” she explained. “I always considered myself a woman who sings her heart out and who gives 120 percent. ‘Diva’ is a word that I wouldn’t wanna call myself because it’s so loosely used. It’s not cute anymore.”
